The current demand for highly qualified technical talent is fierce. According to research from the Manpower Group, the talent shortage across industries is now at its highest since 2007, driven in part by demand for IT roles.

Based on the same survey, hiring managers gave the following reasons for why it is so difficult to fill positions:

  • Lack of available applicants/no applicants (24%)
  • Lack of hard skills/technical competencies (19%)
  • Lack of experience (19%)
  • Looking for more pay than is offered (14%)
  • Lack of soft skills/workplace competencies (11%)

According to a study from Indeed, 83% of hiring managers and recruiters said the tech talent shortage has hurt their business through lost revenue, slower product development, market expansion, or increased employee tension and burnout.
