PCI PIN Security Requirements Updated in Version 2.0

PCI compliance as mandated by the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) protects customer privacy, as well as payment card and merchant data.

4105366_origPIN data continues to be a target for criminals. PCI’s PIN Security Requirements program contains a complete set of requirements for the secure management, processing andtransmission of personal identification number (PIN) data at ATMs, and attended and unattended point-of-sale (POS) terminals.
In a press release published on 12/18/14, the PCI Security Standards Council announced that PCI PIN Security Requirements v2.0 was designed to enhance usability and understanding by stating the requirements in a more granular manner.

The council has published a Summary of Significant Changes document, which provides a high level look at the significant modifications to the requirements.

Of course, getting PCI compliant is only half the battle. The other half is maintaining compliance. The best way to achieve and maintain compliance is through a holistic approach, ensuring you have the proper foundation and infrastructures in place.

I would love to talk with you about PCI compliance or other retail technologies you expect to implement in 2015. If you plan to attend NRF’s BIG Show in January, let’s set up a time to talk!
